Terms & Conditions

General terms and conditions governing the services provided by Autoshine Wheel Clinic.

Policy Document

1. The Service

All prices shown in our price guide, website, face to face and quoted by phone are starting from prices and do not include any repair work such as welding or wheel straightening.

Customers should appreciate that the time to complete the work will depend on the condition of the wheels. Any unforeseen circumstances may result in a time delay. Customers will be contacted as soon as it is evident that the wheels will take longer to refurbish than originally estimated.

Autoshine will endeavour to complete the work within the time stipulated but cannot be held responsible for mechanical breakdown or power failure resulting in delays beyond their control.

Wheel Fitting

Any vehicle brought to Autoshine will have its wheels refitted securely using the appropriate tools. Customers are reminded that it is their responsibility to check the wheel nuts are tight immediately on collection, after a 30-mile bedding-in period, and at regular intervals thereafter. Autoshine takes no responsibility for the re-setting of on-board computers where the vehicle has been lifted from the ground.

2. Limits to the Service & Additional Charges

Wheel Refurbishment

Wheel refurbishment restores the appearance and protective finish of your wheels — it is not a replacement wheel. Occasionally, used alloys may not look 100% perfect after refurbishment. We ask all customers to appreciate the high-quality finish achieved at a fraction of the cost of a new wheel. We do not guarantee a 100% colour match.

After wheels are inspected and stripped, if found to be in a very bad condition, the customer will be informed of any additional charge before work commences. We reserve the right to terminate work on wheels that are excessively damaged or corroded.

Very bad condition includes: badly corroded, deep damage, poor wheel casting, damage around fixing holes, previous improper stud removal, previous repairs, or cracked/split wheels.

Diamond Cut Limitations

There are limits on how many times a wheel can be diamond cut. Each time the process is carried out, a thin layer of metal is removed from the face of the wheel. Any flaws or damage in the original wheel will limit the quality of the result.

Gloss Finishes

Certain high-gloss finishes such as Power/Hyper Silver or Gloss Black show blemishes more readily. We cannot guarantee a perfect finish, but we do guarantee to improve the appearance of your wheels.

Wheel Bolts

If wheel bolts require replacement, the cost will be passed on to the customer. In some split rims, bolts must be drilled out due to corrosion and an additional charge will apply. The customer will be informed before any such work is carried out.

Wheel Valves

Autoshine will refit new rubber valves with black caps on refurbished wheels supplied with tyres, included in the price. Autoshine accepts no responsibility for leaks around old valves refitted at the customer’s request. Special pressure-sensing valves are delicate and may be damaged during tyre removal. We suggest customers have them removed beforehand and refer to the vehicle handbook for recalibration.

Welding & Straightening

All welding and straightening work is undertaken at the owner’s own risk. Whilst we will not carry out any repairs we believe to be unsafe, the ultimate responsibility rests with the customer. While every care is taken when straightening a wheel, a crack can sometimes occur during the process. If this happens, an additional weld repair charge will apply. If a wheel becomes beyond repair during the process, Autoshine is not responsible for replacing it.

Late Collection of Vehicles

Vehicles not collected on the agreed date will be subject to a fee of £25.00 per night. Loose wheels not collected within 5 working days will incur a storage fee of £10.00 per day from day 6. Wheels still not collected after 21 days may be sold to recoup costs incurred.

3. Your Responsibilities

Customers are responsible for ensuring that the wheels they present for refurbishment are their own property or that they have the authority of the owner to have the work carried out.

Customers must ensure that they provide accurate contact details and are available to be contacted during the refurbishment period. It is the customer’s responsibility to collect their vehicle or wheels on the agreed date.

Customers must inform Autoshine of any known defects, previous repairs, or unusual features of the wheels prior to work commencing.

4. Cancellations

Customers wishing to cancel a booking should contact Autoshine as soon as possible. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may be subject to an administration charge.

Autoshine reserves the right to cancel or reschedule an appointment due to circumstances beyond our control, including equipment failure, staff illness, or extreme weather conditions. In such cases, customers will be notified as soon as practicable and offered an alternative appointment.

5. Warranty

Powder Coated & Painted Wheels

Autoshine offers a 12-month warranty on powder-coated and painted finishes, subject to the wheels being subjected to normal road use only. The warranty covers defects in the finish caused by the refurbishment process. It does not cover damage caused by kerbing, corrosion resulting from the use of incorrect cleaning products, accident damage, or wheels used in off-road or motorsport applications.

Excluded from this warranty are wheels that have been colour matched or custom finished.

Diamond Cut Wheels

Given that lacquered bare machined alloy is not a strong or long-lasting finish — particularly in Cornwall’s coastal climate — the majority of wheel refurbishers offer a very limited or no warranty for this service. Autoshine offers a fair compromise for customers who wish to retain this finish, subject to the wheel being suitable for diamond cutting again.

Defects occurring within 3 months (where not caused by driver damage or corrosive cleaners):

  • Have the wheels diamond cut again at no charge, but with no renewed warranty
  • Have the wheels powder coated with a fully renewed 12-month warranty

Two-Piece Wheels

Subject to the same general terms as listed above for powder-coated and diamond-cut areas. No warranty is offered on the bolts themselves unless new bolts have been supplied by Autoshine.

Polished Wheels / Wheel Parts

No warranty is offered on any polished part, as the duration of the finish depends entirely on maintenance and regular cleaning. Polished parts are recommended for show purposes only.

Claims Under Warranty

Claims will be settled by free reworking or, at Autoshine’s discretion, a refund of the relevant part of the invoice. The maximum refund is limited to the original invoice value. Customers must retain their receipt. This does not affect the customer’s statutory rights.

Limitations to Warranty

No warranty applies to wheels that have not been subjected to normal road use, including off-roading, motor racing, or damage caused by an accident.

6. Our Rights & Liability

Liability

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits Autoshine’s liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence. However, Autoshine shall not be liable for any direct loss or damage suffered as a result of negligence, breach of contract, or otherwise, in excess of the price paid for the service.

Law

These terms will be subject to English law and the English courts will have jurisdiction in respect of any dispute arising from the agreement.

Autoshine shall not be liable for any failure to carry out obligations where such failure is due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including Act of God, War, Civil Disturbance, Fire, Flood, Lightning, Industrial Action, or the act or omission of third parties including the Government and its agents.

Amendment to Terms & Conditions

We reserve the right to amend these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The customer will be subject to the terms in force at the time of booking.

Damaged/Illegal Tyres

Autoshine reserves the right not to refit damaged or illegal tyres. Illegal or damaged tyres will only be refitted under the customer’s express instructions, and the customer must sign a disclaimer. We can supply and fit replacement tyres upon request.

Loss or Damage to Property

Autoshine shall not be responsible for any loss or damage to goods or articles left in vehicles, or for damage or mechanical fault of any vehicle (other than obvious damage recorded at check-in), except for damage caused by our negligence. Autoshine will not accept liability for technical or structural damage to wheels where such damage occurs due to pre-existing faults and/or wear and tear, unless Autoshine has been negligent in not realising that such damage may occur.
